We met James Huntley, a NFL sports
agent, this morning outside of Starbucks coffee in West Covina. He is a young, yet rapidly rising sports
agent bringing in players that will greatly affect the League. Huntley, and his associate Windy Innocent,
work with Football First in finding certain college athletes that meet the
Leagues criteria for their great endeavor.
In Huntley’s interview, he says his
top 5 schools he looks at are:
1.
USC
2.
Arizona
3.
UCLA
4.
Oregon
5.
Stanford
Huntley expresses the importance of
his relationship with his athletes. It
is important to know what kind of person that athlete is. Anyone can be talented, but the League needs
more than someone that knows how to play.
With the level of competition nowadays it requires so much more as
Huntley showed the importance of character, discipline, and a love and passion
for the game. In addition to training
6-7 days a week, a player must have the mentality that there is no
off-season. A player must constantly
train his body and his mind on and off the field. Agents look not only for statistics and skill
but grades and character in a player.
You must have all of this for a shot in the National Football League.
